SLIS is tasked to put a quality-assurance and registration scheme for interpreters in place by the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017-2021 (NDIS), and in response to the Irish Sign Language (ISL) Act 2017. Funding is provided by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection via CIB, based on an agreed business case.
This consultation paper sets out how SLIS will develop this scheme as a National Voluntary Register of sign language interpreters.
We invite your views and opinions on this development.
