The HSE agreed with SLIS to arrange for and administer a pilot programme for the provision of sign language interpreters for GP and primary care appointments for Deaf people with medical cards from November 2016 to March 2017. On completion of the pilot programme an evaluation of the success of the programme was sought after. Data for this evaluation was collected by qualitative interviews by two independent researchers. This report was edited by John Stewart, SLIS, and provided to the HSE National Office for Social Inclusion.
