To set out a framework for a programme of continuous professional development, training and accredited education for Sign Language Interpreting in Ireland

Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) is the national Sign Language Interpreting Service for Ireland.  Established in 2007, through the Citizens Information Board (CIB), our mission is to promote, advocate and ensure the availability of quality sign language interpretation services.

The National Disability Inclusion Strategy (NDIS) 2017-2021has tasked SLIS with the provision of on-going professional training and development for interpreters

To equip SLIS in this work, SLIS is now seeking submissions from suitably qualified/ experienced experts or organisations to research and set out a framework for a programme of continuous professional development (CPD), training and accredited education for Sign Language Interpreters.

The successful tenderer will research and set out a framework for CPD and training, including training that is suitable for accredited and non-accredited programmes, and the feasibility of developing postgraduate education. This must include a range of specialist contexts such as legal and medical settings.

Queries concerning this tender should be emailed to margaret.oconnor@slis.ie  before 2 pm on 21st February 2019.

Closing date for receipt of tenders is 28th February 2019 (4 pm)

We expect the contract to commence in early March 2019 and a final report in May 2019.
