The goal of SLIS is to ensure that Deaf people can live as full and equal citizens with easy access to relevant public, educational and social services, and exercise their rights and entitlements, including under the Equal Status and Disability Acts. SLIS will promote, represent, advocate and ensure the availability of quality interpretation services to Deaf people in Ireland.

SLIS is currently recruiting for a Project Officer for a full-time fixed-term post until 31 December 2021 and may be extended by a further 12 months subject to funding and business needs.

Project Officer
(Full-time / fixed-term contract to 31 December 2021)

The Role
The Project Officer will plan, develop, and deliver projects to progress the core work of the Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) and actions assigned to SLIS by the National Disability Inclusion Strategy (NDIS). The Project Officer will also assist SLIS to prepare for the commencement of the Irish Sign Language Act.
Salary The salary scale for this role is €41,621 – €49,991. It is anticipated that new entrants to SLIS will be appointed on the 1st point of the scale. Incremental credit, should it be awarded, will be based on previous relevant experience as set out on the application form.

Reports to The SLIS Manager.
Location SLIS, Deaf Village Ireland, Ratoath Rd, Cabra, Dublin 7. Remote/home working may be required in line with public health advice during the Covid 19 pandemic.
Duration This contract will run initially until 31 December 2021 and may be extended by a further 12 months subject to funding and business needs.
Hours 35 hours per week. This post is not eligible for job-share.
