The Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) is an independent body, funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board (CIB), to develop, promote and deliver quality sign language interpreting services to the Deaf community in Ireland, including face to face and remote services. SLIS is working in 2019 to respond to the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017-2021 and the Irish Sign Language Act 2017.
Quality Development Officer – Maternity Cover (Full-time, fixed-term contract, 28 weeks, with potential to extend for up to 24 further weeks)
The Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) is seeking to recruit Maternity Cover for a Quality Development Officer on a full-time, fixed-term contract for 28 weeks to develop systems to improve the quality and availability of sign language interpreting.
The Quality Development Officer will develop a quality assurance and registration scheme for Sign Language interpreters in Ireland. Working with key stakeholders, the successful candidate will research and advise on / assist with the development and delivery of a national registration scheme, and associated quality measures, including continuous professional development and training for sign language interpreters.
The salary scale for this role is €41,621 – €49,991. It is anticipated that new entrants to SLIS will be appointed on the 1st point of the scale. Incremental credit, should it be awarded, will be based on previous relevant experience as set out on the application form and covering letter.
